This recipe for meat loaf is attributed to Boscov’s, which is a department store in the Ohio-Pennsylvania-New Jersey area. Founded in 1914 by Samuel Solomon Boscov, it is still in operation and is one of the last family-owned department stores that helped create the American department store landscape in the 20th century. In the 1980s, Boscov’s Family Restaurants were opened in some of the department stores, and I can only assume that is where this recipe originated.
If you haven’t made meat loaf before, just combine all the ingredients and place in a meatloaf pan. Bake 1 1/2 – 2 hours at 350º.
Boscov’s Meat Loaf
1 1/2 c Rice Krispies soaked in 3/4 c milk
2 lb ground meat
2 TB catsup
2 Tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp savory – 2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp salt & pepper
How wonderful to see a recipe from the Restaurant at Boscov’s! I have been working for Boscov’s for 23 years, so this post got my attenetion. Solomon not Samuel is the father of Boscov’s, which just celebrated 100 years. There are 43 stores in 5 States. I think only 5 have restaurants.
