Remember I said that recipes were the original social networking? Well, Jane Kelley’s recipe cards just prove that for me. She has recipes from Helen Egan, Herb Grenda, Alice and her cheesecake, B. Williams and her cold soup… these were people in her community with which she shared time and friendship around the dinner table. Maybe they all attended the same church, or their kids were all in the same school. We will never know, but they definitely had some sort of a network going, and it circulated recipes and friendship. Twitter and Facebook think they are such a revolution in the way people socialize, huh. They got nuthin on recipe cards! ;-)
