This is a recipe from PAM! heh. The paper is neon green note paper and it’s a bit large, so please click to enlarge the image to a more readable size. I just didn’t want to offend any eyeballs early in the morning. These taffy treats are a cookie dipped in caramel, similar to the buckeye balls we looked at a couple months ago, but then dipped into chopped nuts. Yummmmmmy. I think you could come up with variations too, like coconut or grated chocolate.
Taffy Treats (Pam)
Cream:
1/2 c shortening
with 1/4 c brown sugar
1/4 c confectioners sugar
1/4 tsp salt
Add:
1 lg egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 c flour
Shape dough into 1″ balls, place on greased cookie sheet. Bake 15-18 mins at 350. Cool, put toothpicks into each ball. In double boiler, put 25 Kraft caramels with 1/4 c canned milk or reg milk or Carnation. Melt the caramels, dip each cookie in caramel. Then dip bottom of cookie in grated nuts & sprinkle rest of cookie with nuts.
*Kraft caramels can be tinted red to look like candy apples.
I have no comment on the recipe (but it looks yummy), but the note paper!!! Goodness gracious–I have that!!! I still have a few sheets of that delightful paper, but mine says DIANE instead of PAM (for obvious reasons). Now I’m going to have to dig it out from the bottom of my stationary drawer and scan it just to prove it.
