Doughnuts

Let’s start of the work week with an old favorite, shall we? Just start up the deep fat fryer and make a batch of old fashioned doughnuts. Make sure the coffee is brewed hot, because there isn’t much in this world that goes better with coffee than a fresh doughnut. My mouth is watering as we speak.

Sweet milk, by the way, is milk from the cow without processing. You can use whole milk as a substitute.

Doughnuts

1 cup sugar

1 cup rich sweet milk

1 tbsp butter

2 eggs

5 cups flour

2 tsp baking powder

salt

  1. Yummy! I’ve actually baked doughnuts before and they aren’t too bad. I found a nice cake doughnut recipe (lots of yummy nutmeg) that didn’t need to rise and instead of frying it, I baked it! It tasted the same, but it was more biscuit-looking than doughnut-looking if that makes sense. Still darn good with coffee and without the oil, not that bad for you. Might have to go looking for that recipe…
