Curried Hamburger & Kidney Beans

The saying goes that the more stained the recipe, the more it was used, although in my house it also has some correlation to how much my daughter wanted to “help” me cook. :-) This little recipe note has at least two different spills on it, so it’s possible that Gram made it a few times.

Curried Hamburger & Kidney Beans

For 8 people +/-

1/2 lge onion, chopped

3 or 4 cloves garlic, minced

1 1/2 – 2 lb hamburg

1 tbsp +/- curry powder

1/2 tsp thyme

3 whole cloves

1/2 lge bay leaf

salt & pepper to taste

1 15 oz can kidney beans

1 cup beef bouillon

Saute onions & garlic until transparent. Brown hamburger crumble up with onions & garlic to brown. Add other ingredients & simmer for one hour more or less. You may have to add more bouillon or water after 45 minutes. Serve with rice. Suggested condiments: salted peanuts, raisins, other relish things.
